About Mrs. Kao

My name is Kathryn Kao, and I'm so excited to join the Notre Dame community!  I'm teaching 7th and 8th grade Social Studies, as well as Religion for 7B.

I grew up in the Boston area, and stayed there for college, studying Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Brandeis University.  I then earned my MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at New York University, and my M.S. in Education at Bank Street College of Education.   At Bank Street, I studied Museum Education along with gaining my New York certification, and interned at the Museum of Natural History in NY and the MIT Museum in Cambridge, MA.  After graduation, I moved to California, where I taught for six years--first as a technology teacher, and then teaching 6th grade (all the subjects!).  I've spent the past four years teaching 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies at a Project Based Learning school near San Francisco.

You can contact me through email (kkao@notredameint.org) or Remind; you can also call the school office or leave me a note.
