the intermediate level, Religion, Reading, Language Arts, Math,
Science and Social Studies are
departmentalized.
In Religion, the teachers focus on the Ten
Commandments,
the Beatitudes, the Sacraments and the
History of Christianity.
Special attention is given to the origins
of the Church.
Family life is taught within the framework
of Christian values.
Lectionary is alsoincorporated.
Literature based texts are used to
reinforce skills
such as finding a main idea, comprehension
and vocabulary development.
Novels are used to supplement the
text
and provide exposure to classical and
modern literature.
For Math, students are grouped according to
ability.
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and
division of decimals
and fractions are taught at each level.
Basic geometric concepts are introduced.
Different methods of problem solving are
taught.
Grammar and writing are integrated in the
Language Arts curriculum.
There is particular emphasis on
descriptive, persuasive
and comparative writing as well as
research.
Life, Earth and Physical Sciences are
learned at an advanced level.
Experiments and cooperative group
activities are used
to investigate concepts presented in
textbooks.
Students explore the world around them in
Social Studies.
Emphasis is placed on New Jersey History,
World Civilizations,
World Geography and Current Events.
In order to accommodate different student
needs,
class participation, written tests, oral
presentations and projects
are used to assess achievement. |
